Tinnitus

Tinnitus is a condition characterized by the perception of ringing, buzzing, hissing, or other sounds in the ears or head when no external sound is present. It is often referred to as "ringing in the ears" and can vary in pitch and intensity. Tinnitus can be temporary or chronic and may be caused by various factors, including exposure to loud noise, age-related hearing loss, earwax buildup, certain medications, underlying health conditions, or head and neck injuries.

While tinnitus itself is not a disease but a symptom of an underlying issue, it can be distressing and impact quality of life for some individuals. Management of tinnitus may involve treating underlying causes (if identified), using sound therapy, counseling, relaxation techniques, or hearing aids to help mask the noise and improve coping strategies.
