Professional Bio
Dr. Evan Walgama, is a board-certified Head and Neck Surgeon, with dual-fellowship training in Surgical Oncology and Skull Base Surgery. He specializes in the treatment of tumors affecting the head and neck, including HPV-associated malignancies, oral cancers, throat cancers, sinonasal tumors, and thyroid cancer, with a special interest in transoral robotic surgery.
Expertise
Dr. Walgama enjoys taking care of cancer patients and their families and is an advocate for patient-centered decision-making. He brings together diverse skill sets to treat challenging cancers, with a focus on preserving the patient’s quality of life. He performs transoral robotic and laser surgery, endoscopic skull-base surgery, and is an advocate for multidisciplinary care. A member of the American Head & Neck Society, his research and academic interests include cost-effectiveness, clinical outcomes, and clinical trials in head and neck oncology.
Education
Dr. Walgama graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied Philosophy. He received his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he was a junior member and president of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology at the same institution, a fellowship in Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery at Stanford, and a second fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
