Nasal and Sinus Tumors
Benign and malignant tumors can arise in the paranasal sinuses and skull base. Such tumors can sometimes produce symptoms similar to those with allergies, chronic sinusitis, or nasal polyps. Symptoms may include nasal obstruction, facial pressure, decreased sense of smell, or increased nasal drainage.
However, patients may also have more dramatic symptoms such as loss of vision, facial numbness, or nasal bleeding.
Sinus and skull base tumors can often be removed endoscopically by experienced and well-trained surgeons but occasionally may need to be excised using open techniques.
