Head and neck cancers include malignancies that involve a wide number of sites including the tongue, palate, tonsil, larynx, skin, thyroid, and salivary glands. Symptoms can be silent or begin with a painless lump in the throat or neck, and with time could grow to cause problems with speech, swallow, and breathing. Treatment depends on the type and site of cancer, and could include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or a combination of these three modalities.
